Venus Hostage is not really a sex game but more an adult game with elements of sex in it. Venus hostage shares elements of it’s game play style and execution with the early games like Doom or Wolfenstein 3D; however the story line is a little weak by comparison to some with a limited number of levels to progress through.
Sometimes the puzzle solving needed to progress through the levels may leave you a little confused for a while; in most cases however it is a simple task of moving the objects available to you to achieve your goal.
You play the role of Jack who, after a brief sexual encounter with Mila, ends up as a hostage of Venus. Your job is to to escape and bring down the depraved ring that she is part of. The dialog where necessary is both spoken (in an English accent by Jack) and displayed on screen. The graphics are pretty good and the environmental backgrounds are particularly nice on occasion.
The underlying music and sound effects are both OK and add to the enjoyment of the game. It would be possible to improve the game by making it a multi path or a multi ending game; therefore making it more difficult with more replay value. Currently there is a single path of progression through from start to finish which is a little disappointing.
Throughout the game you have to collect pictures of hot women; I did not collect all of them whilst playing the game the first time. I think hidden areas to the game and more collectible items along with making it less linear would be a definite benefit.
If you are prone to motion sickness in video games then be aware that this could affect you. Whilst uncommon, I am one of those people. Very few games effected me however Doom and Wolfenstein 3D used to make me feel physically sick; after playing for 15 to 20 minutes and I had the same experience with Venus Hostage. This is not going to affect most people and certainly not hardened gamers, but is worth mentioning just in case. I continued regardless to complete the game and do this review and found sitting further from my screen was a benefit.
Venus Hostage now comes as part of a package from the developer. You are able to download all of their six games for one price this includes one month of access to 3DXChat.
